Learn how to use simulation for teaching the Emergency Way

Taught BY emergency physicians FOR emergency physicians

£150 (Free for Severn senior trainees)

The focus of the day is to maximise the educational value of high fidelity simulation in emergency medicine. This is not a ‘knobology’ course.

Learning outcomes:

  • Appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of high fidelity simulation based teaching
  • Describe and perform effective debriefing
  • Understand Crisis Resource Management and apply it to Emergency Medicine

Suitable for:

  • Consultant Emergency Physicians and post FCEM trainees
  • Senior trainees, staff grades and associate specialists who fulfil one of the following criteria
    • Completion of GIC/ATLS instructor course
    • Ability to demonstrate significant involvement in simulation training as faculty
    • Able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to medical education such as completion of postgrad certificate in medical education
  • Senior nurses who fulfil criteria above.
  • Consultants from other specialties allied to EM such as intensive care or paediatrics can attend this course who fulfil criteria above
  • In exceptional circumstances more junior EM trainees my attend the course at the discretion of the course director. Typically these trainees will be working as simulation fellows
